The vfi sees in Ver­ti­cal Farm­ing the poten­tial to increase the over­all ener­gy effi­cien­cy of cities, to imple­ment sus­tain­able local eco­nom­ic struc­tures, and to increase social inter­ac­tion or the qual­i­ty of life in urban areas. In addi­tion, alter­na­tive farm­ing meth­ods have the poten­tial to enable new or sub­se­quent use of unused build­ing fabric.
