The Fire­wall is a ver­ti­cal farm that has devel­oped from the search for unused prop­er­ties in the city. The design con­cept is based on the basic premise of using inner city den­si­fi­ca­tion for the pro­duc­tion of food. The Fire­wall also serves as an ener­gy Plus for the adja­cent house across the fire­wall. The ground floor is acces­si­ble to vis­i­tors and con­nects the shop with a small mar­ket place out front.

The plan­ning phase of the Fire­wall is com­plete and it is ready for imple­men­ta­tion, just wait­ing for the opti­mum build­ing site. A mod­el of the Fire­wall has been includ­ed in the exhi­bi­tion “Die Zukun­ft der Stadt / The future of the City” in the tech­ni­cal muse­um in Vienna.

This project has been devel­oped on our own ini­tia­tive to eval­u­ate obsta­cles with­in the imple­men­ta­tion gap. Ques­tions and answers result­ing to dis­cus­sions with the munic­i­pal­i­ty in Vien­na, investors and real-estate devel­op­ers have been impor­tant steps for­ward with­in the con­cep­tu­al development.
